The first day of the competition saw 12 matches being held with teams starting off their campaign for the Senior Nationals title. All the big teams - Services, Maharashtra, Railways, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh picked up wins and set the stage for a productive second day.

The second day of the Nationals was split into two sessions - a morning session which comprised 13 matches and an evening session which saw 17 matches being played.

The groups of the 66th Senior National Kabaddi Championships were drawn as follows:

Group A: Maharashtra, Gujarat, Vidharbha

Group B: Services, Delhi, Chandigarh, Manipur

Group C: Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Telangana, BSNL

Group D: Haryana, Bihar, West Bengal, Chattisgarh

Group E: Rajasthan, Andhra Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab

Group F: Uttarakhand, Tamilnadu, Pondicherry, Assam

Group G: Railways, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Odisha

Group H: Uttar Pradesh, Kerela, Tripura, Jharkhand

After the end of two days of top-flight kabaddi, sixteen teams from the eight groups have progressed to the Round of 16 stages and will engage in knockout clashes to ensure their place in the quarterfinals.

Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Indian Railways, Karnataka, Services, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh topped their groups, winning all their fixtures with ease.

The Round of 16 fixtures to be held on 30th January are as follows (along with timings in IST)

  1. Maharashtra vs. Kerala (5:00 PM)

  2. Bihar vs. Rajasthan (5:00 PM)

  3. Indian Railways vs Delhi (5:00 PM)

  4. Pondicherry vs Karnataka (5:00 PM)

  5. Services vs Himachal Pradesh (6:00 PM)

  6. Telangana vs Uttarakhand (6:00 PM)

  7. Uttar Pradesh vs Gujarat (6:00 PM)

  8. Punjab vs Haryana (6:00 PM)

The quarter-finals will be held on the same day later in the evening as the venue in Roha Raigad allows multiple matches to be conducted simultaneously. The semi-finals and final will take place on January 31, 2019.
