Although he was rushed to a nearby hospital, it turned out to be too late as the doctors declared him dead on arrival.

“The boy collapsed on the ground. Alerted by other boys, locals rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him brought dead,” Vanasthalipuram ACP Bhaskar told The Hindu.

While the officer added that there was no intention on anyone’s part to cause any harm, a case has been filed under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

“Though no one had any intention to cause injury, a case was registered and investigation is on,” the ACP said.

On Monday this week, Keshri lost his life in tragic circumstances after suffering a nasty collision with teammate Sourabh Mondal at the Jadavpur University Campus Ground. He had been taken to a private hospital and his condition was said to be stable initially but a subsequent cardiac arrest proved to be too fatal.
